Townsend Belt
ABOUT ATTORNEY
Townsend protects and advances his clients’ interests through litigation and dispute resolution regarding real estate, landlord-tenant, business, commercial, noncompete, and insurance disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, and other general civil matters in state and federal courts in Florida. He thoroughly enjoys the practice of law and has successfully represented property and business owners through trial, post-judgment, and appellate proceedings. He credits his success to developing and implementing successful litigation and negotiation strategies that focus on the end result without losing perspective of his clients’ overall objectives and long-term goals.
Townsend’s practice substantially involves advising clients and litigating real estate related matters, including landlord tenant relationships, construction liens, mortgages, easements, title, and community association disputes. The balance of his practice is spent advising clients regarding their businesses, including the formation and dissolution of business entities, negotiating contracts, and litigating business disputes including disputes regarding the UCC, deceptive and unfair trade practices, breach of contract, account collection, non-competition and non-solicitation covenants, breaches of fiduciary duty, fraud, conversion, interference with business relationships, and creditor’s rights and bankruptcy. Townsend enjoys consulting with his clients regarding their businesses and developing strategies to navigate the unique issues and concerns that affect them. He is often the first attorney his clients contact for counsel when a problem arises, and, when the matter is not within his wheelhouse, to recommend counsel better suited to represent them. As a result, Townsend also enjoys his relationships with other attorneys in the community and working with them for his clients’ benefit.
Townsend Belt has strong ties to the Tampa Bay community, including being the third generation of his family to be born and raised in Tampa, a second-generation graduate of Jesuit High School, and a graduate of the University of South Florida College of Business. Although his name camouflages his Italian American heritage, he does not let it stop him from celebrating it. He serves on the board of directors of the Italian Club of Tampa, Inc. and Italian Club Building & Cultural Trust Fund, Inc., serves as a regional representative of the National Italian American Foundation, and is a member of the National Italian American Bar Association and Florida Italian American Bar Association. He is also active in the local legal community through membership in the Hillsborough County Bar Association and Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association and is a member Business Law Section and Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar.
