John A. Anthony
ABOUT ATTORNEY
For over 38 years, John has been a Tampa-based lawyer in private practice, focused primarily on the representation of financial institutions, medical malpractice law firms, and other sophisticated creditors. With undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University, John spent the majority of his career at a large law firm, serving as a Creditors’ Rights department chairman from 1993 through 2009. In the face of the Great Recession, John joined with his wife Stephenie Anthony to found A&P to better serve financial institutions and other creditors dealing with insolvency scenarios.
John’s practice focuses on loan enforcement, chapter 11, debt restructure, avoidance litigation, complex judgment collection, lender liability, disputes involving fraudulent transfers and successor liability, and related complex litigation throughout the State of Florida. John’s bankruptcy practice focuses on representation of financial institutions and mass tort consortiums in all districts and divisions of Florida, as well as other states. The largest and most prominent personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other plaintiffs' firms routinely look to A&P to collect their judgments, negotiate complex settlements, handle their appeals, and negotiate through the vagaries of chapter 11. As of the present date, A&P serves as appellate, bankruptcy, or judgment enforcement co-counsel with nearly 200 medical malpractice lawyers throughout the United States. Our clients' claims range from over $390 Million to under $100,000. Regardless of size or venue, A&P efficiently responds to client needs in a practical and result-oriented manner.
For over 3 decades, John has been rated by the universally recognized Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating system at the highest level for both proficiency and ethics. John is one of a handful of Florida bankruptcy lawyers to have earned "Hall of Fame" status among Florida Trend's "Legal Elite," and is regularly selected among Florida's "Super Lawyers" each year by Super Lawyers magazine. John and A&P are regularly selected by Chambers Spotlight for Florida in the area of bankruptcy, and are recognized by Best Lawyers, Tampa Magazine, and other publications. John is a regular lecturer to bankers, lawyer organizations, and law school students on matters pertaining to the representation of financial institutions, avoidance litigation, and other bankruptcy contexts.
